Physician Practice Variables Unaccounted for in Studies of NPs and PAs in Nursing Homes

Paul R. Katz, MD, CMD, of Florida State University College Medicine, and colleagues conducted a scoping review peer-reviewed studies examining the impact care provided by nurse practitioners (NPs) physician assistants (PAs) in nursing homes to see if they “have accounted for both collaborative relationship between themselves physicians as well practice size type.” The researchers looked at whether these NPs/PAs variables “such number physicians, total case load, mix.” None 16 included final analysis when analyzing outcomes. “The existence such ‘conceptual gap’ likely reflects an underappreciation home quality despite emerging evidence lending credence such,” said.
